Fears counterpart, consciousness, is only exposed to those throughout the world who have learned a high degree of self awareness and is fueled by bad-assery and kick ass thinking! Consciousness squashes fear and creates questions such as “What’s the opportunity here?” and “How can we make this work?” Versus unconsciousness taking over and fear setting in and the only question that it creates is: “What’s wrong here?”
In every moment we come up against blocks, challenges or adversity and based on the perceptions that we choose, we will experience either a digressing or constriction, or we will progressively move forward, expanding into fearlessness through the connection with our self awareness/consciousness rather than the unconsciousness. What will it take for us to start facing our fears, living consciously, and stress free? Here are three powerful ways to get your life back on track, by putting YOU in the driver’s seat on the road to the new you!
1. RESPONSIBILITY. Time to start taking responsibility for your “re-actability”. Don’t judge yourself or others, start owning your thoughts. Be willing to look at yourself to see the ways in which your beliefs or ideas could be creating what is happening outside of you. By simply doing that you can shift your energy and break the pattern that has been blocking your path to freedom and empowerment.
2. IDENTIFY. Determine what those fears are. Identify what fear says to you, how it makes you feel, and where it shows up in your life. Hello GREMLIN! By just becoming more aware/conscious that fear shows up, you can simply open up your mind to other possibilities and opportunities for yourself. Realizing that you do NOT have to be a victim of your circumstance, rather, by becoming more aware that the fear exists already lessens the power that it has over you.
3. DECIDE. I know it sounds simple yet somewhat impossible. With the help of steps 1 and 2, making a choice becomes absolutely possible! Decide to let go of fear. Decide to let go of the hold it has over you. Make a choice to do/think/act in a way that serves you better!
For example: Judy graduated from high school 15 years ago and got a job at Quaker State after graduation. Although she loves the company, co-workers and management, she feels there is something missing. She’s been thinking about getting a new job for a long time, but is comfortable in her current situation, she has been in the job for 15 years and has been treated well, she thinks, “Why would I even look for a new job?” Judy is actually afraid. She is afraid of the thought of change. Judy is afraid that she will never get a new job because she’s doesn’t have an education and is not good enough so she has never tried to find a new job.
Step 1 for Judy: Judy can start facing her fears by taking responsibility and ownership of her thoughts. Ownership that she is indeed believes she is not good enough and she is actually is afraid of change. Because of that, she has been holding herself back from looking for a new job.
Step 2 for Judy: Judy realizes her fear of failure and fear of change makes her feel hopeless, sad, trapped and intimidated. Judy realizes that this fear shows up when she thinks of looking for a new job and feels like she is not good enough for anything else! Because Judy has now acknowledged her fears and how it affects her emotionally, the fear already has less power over her!
Step 3 for Judy: Judy now decides that she will not let this fear hold her back any longer. She decides that she will now start looking for new jobs and decides she deserves the opportunity to be happy and fulfilled.
A part that many of us miss is the listening, trusting and acting on our intuition. Because often times our intuition is telling us to do the very things we’ve been scared to do. We need to put ourselves out into the world in a bigger way, to step into our power, to leave something that we’ve placed our safety and security in— yet we resist.
So I challenge you. Pick one of your fears that you have and for the next 30 days try steps 1-3. Steps 1-3 will most likely be on repeat the entire month, as it takes at least that long to start the process of awareness and choosing a different path. Do it, do it now!
