Skip a few years to late summer of 2015. I was searching for women’s networking events at my day job. I was drawn to women-only events, as I felt much more comfortable in these types of supportive situations, not to mention the fact that women simply get things done. We have a lot on our plate these days, so get to the chase already! We thrive in supporting one another to succeed. I came across the newly formed Des Moines Femfessionals group. Malay’s new business, Full Pursuit Life Coaching, was hosting a lunch and learn about finding your purpose. Her workshop immediately spoke to me. It was so informative, straightforward and authentic. I signed up for her complementary 30-minute “trial” session to check her out further, as I knew, intuitively that I wanted to learn more about her and wondered if it would be a good fit to hire her as a coach. I admired that she dared greatly by quitting her traditional corporate job and started her own coaching business. I also noticed the innate strength and fortitude she had, not to mention, the occasional “F” bomb peppered into her conversations.
After our 30-minute session, I knew I had to sign up with her. I committed to meeting with her weekly, for three months. It was somewhat of a sacrifice to leave work early, but I intrinsically knew that I needed her. I craved a change and was feeling suffocated by the feelings of “stuckness”, especially in my career. Malay has a way of helping me go deeper into what I really want. What is my “Job” with a capital “J” in this life? I’ve been searching for that passion and sense of purpose in my life, and was unsuccessful in fulfilling that void. During our sessions, I would find myself automatically saying, “I don’t know” to her questions…then catching myself when she would challenge me on it. I did know the answer on a deeper level, I just needed a little more guidance and gentle, but firm nudges!
I felt drawn to Malay, and I really can’t explain why. She embodies self-compassion and empathy. She also sees things as they are and is not afraid to tell it like it is. I needed someone real, not afraid to help me through dark feeling of being stuck and into the light of the possible. She was the tipping point to finally starting my business, From Within Wellness, devoted to teaching mindfulness and meditation to youth and adults in the Des Moines area. The major thing she showed me was that I would’ve been more disappointed in myself if I had stayed safe, and not tried to launch my business, versus starting my business and “failing” in the process. She is a committed, loyal, and selfless being. I am so grateful to her for helping me find my own voice and my own courage to dream big. I knew what I wanted, way down deep. She elegantly, and with gentleness, helped me pull back the curtain to my full potential. Thank you, Malay, for being such a huge supporter in my path to finding true happiness from within!
