All in all, there were 19 participants and two trainers at the Dallas module. I was amazed by how well run the weekend was (thank you John and Kofi!) and how intense some of our peer coaching practices were. iPEC’s core foundation and concepts are based around the book Energy Leadership by Bruce F. Schneider, who is also the founder of iPEC. Because I started the coaching program early, I was required to read the book before the module and was able to quickly identify and use a lot of the concepts taught in the book. All weekend I had an opportunity to coach my peers as well as be coached by them.
One of the most powerful takeaways for me was the gift of being coached by my peers. I allowed myself to be vulnerable and to be coached around some things that have been on my mind which I needed a coach's guidance. Although I've successfully built a nonprofit organization, building my own coaching practice has had its challenges. Full Pursuit Life Coaching is at its infancy, much like the stages of life and as us humans do we redefine and reevaluate our purpose in life and our goals we set to achieve. Full Pursuit has potential and with my personal evolution comes redefinition and reevaluation of my purpose. I know I want to positively impact people’s lives any way I can, but in what way?
I also realized that one of my goals, to eat clean and have a healthier relationship with food, was currently in a severely sad state! This has always been a struggle for me and I've come to realize that even the coach in me needs a coach in this area!! Thank goodness I am getting one next week, because that is an area in my life that I know I need a coach to keep me accountable. Part of my willingness to accept this reality was being blocked because of my internal gremlin. I kept questioning myself, "If I admit I need a coach, does that mean I am not an adequate enough coach to coach others in this area?" I've learned that it’s not even close to reality.
Being coached by my peers really helped me focus and provided clarity. Ironically, it showed me that I don’t always have to be the tough girl who doesn't need to be coached. In the next few weeks you will see a clearer purpose and definition at Full Pursuit, always evolving and growing, that’s what makes the world go round!
